Study-trip to London

On 14 -17 February 2012, IOM Moscow within the project “Preventing and Counter-Acting Trafficking in Human Beings in the Russian Federation” organized a study trip of Russia interagency delegation to London.
Representatives of the Ministry for Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation, the Ministry of Health and Social Development, Investigation Committee of the RF, Coordination Council of Prosecutors General of CIS member-states, Russian Advocates Guild and Moscow Patriarchy took part in the study visit.

Moscow Vacancy Fair for Foreign Citizens

On the 10th of February 2012 the Department of Labour and Employment of Moscow city Government in cooperation with IOM Moscow organized a second vacancy fair for foreign citizens, searching for jobs in Moscow. The vacancy fair was organized in the premises of Moscow Center for Labour Exchange. Holding of such fairs contribute to raising much interest of labour migrants to the vacancies offered by some Moscow enterprises. Among them there were: “ZIL” Plant, “Mospromstroy”, “Progress Service” group of companies, “Grabli” restaurant chain. The fair was attended by more then 70 migrants, in majority Tajik, Uzbek and Kyrgyz nationals.

Training on Cultural Orientation for personnel of the FMS Russia Centre for accommodation of persons subject to readmission in Pskov

On December 19-20, 2011 within the EU project «Support to Implementation of the EU Readmission Agreements with the Republic of Moldova, the Russian Federation and Ukraine: Facilitation of Assisted Voluntary Return and Reintegration» (SIREADA) implemented jointly by IOM Moscow and the FMS of Russia, a training workshop for personnel of the FMS of Russia special institutions for accommodation of persons subject to readmission was conducted.

IOM Moscow Chief of Mission met with the FMS Russia Director

On 01 December, 2011 Konstantin Romodanovskiy, FMS Russia Director, had a meeting with Enrico Ponziani, IOM Moscow Chief of Mission.
Mr. Ponziani conveyed his thanks to the Head of the Federal Migration Service for fruitful cooperation in the area of migration, including cooperation in the area of labour and irregular migration, readmission, etc. “IOM Moscow produced an analytical report on the current situation and the development of migration legislation in Russia, with a particular focus on admission and usage of foreign labour.” Mr. Romodanovskiy conveyed his own thanks for concrete recommendations on the development of migration legislation in Russia. “Regardless of whether or not we implement your suggestions, it is essential for us to know them!”

Magazine "Camilla"

Information-Resource Center for migrant-workers has published a specialized Magazine for women and girls who came to work in Russia. The magazine contains practical information on employment, housing, health, education (preschool and school for children). Despite the fact that practical information is aimed at Moscow and Moscow region, the journal will be useful for migrants from other regions of Russia, as well as in countries of origin. Also it is scheduled to release the same magazine with practical information aimed at Yekaterinburg.

Final Conference of Readmission Project

On April 27 a final conference of the EU project “Development of Administrative Mechanisms in Support of Readmission of Migrants in the Russian Federation” took place in Moscow. The project duration was from September 2009 till April 2011.

Technical visit to France

On April 4-8 a technical visit to France of representatives of the Russian authorities competent in the area of migration and readmission took place. The trip was organized within EU project “Development of Administrative Mechanisms in Support of Readmission of Migrants in the Russian Federation”, implemented jointly by IOM Moscow and FMS of Russia.
The Russian delegation, which consisted of representatives from FMS of Russia, State Duma, MFA of Russia, Office of Ombudsman as well as IOM Moscow, was welcomed by the representatives of Ministry of Interior of France, which is competent in the sphere of migration and readmission.

Working meeting among representatives of the Federal Migration Service and the regional/city courts

On March 10, 2011, a working meeting among representatives of the Federal Migration Service, other competent authorities in the sphere of migration and human rights and the regional/city courts from Pskov, Rostov-on-Don and Moscow oblast was held in “Education method and readmission center ‘Bolshevo’”. The meeting was organized within the EU project “Development of Administrative Mechanisms in Support of Readmission of Migrants in the Russian Federation”, implemented by IOM Moscow jointly with FMS of Russia.

Comparative analysis of the legislation of the CSTO member states

On February 25, 2011 the 9th Meeting of the Coordinating Council of the Heads of the Competent Structures of the Collective Security Treaty Organization dealing with the issues of combating irregular migration was conducted. The meeting was chaired by Mr. Romodanovskiy, Director of the Federal Migration Service of Russia. Mr. Borduzha, General Secretary of the CSTO, took part in the meeting.
One of the topics of the agenda was devoted to the comparative analysis of the legislation of the CSTO member states in the area of combating irregular migration and human trafficking. The main objective of the comparative analysis was to assess the legislation of the CSTO member states on its compliance to the international standards and development of recommendations on bringing the legislation in line with the respective standards.
